The Role: 

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Research Coordinator professional to assist with the coordination and execution of research activities, as part of Arthritis Society Canada’s Newborn Arthritis Prevention Screening (NAPS) Project. Reporting to the Manager, Clinical Operations & Implementation, this role involves working closely with research teams, principal investigators, and external stakeholders to ensure the smooth management of research documentation, ethics applications, scheduling, and data organization.

Our mission team is comprised of professionals nationwide in the areas of research, advocacy, innovation, and information and support. We are Canada’s largest charitable funder of arthritis research, helping spark new ideas and igniting careers to improve care for people today, and to find a cure for people tomorrow. Key Accountabilities: 
Administrative Support:

  • Provide general administrative support to the research team, including scheduling meetings, managing emails, and coordinating communications.  
  • Assist in preparing reports, presentations, and research documentation.  
  • Maintain and update research project records, ensuring compliance with institutional and funding guidelines.  


Research Coordination: 

  • Manage research-related correspondence with collaborators, institutions, and funding agencies.  
  • Organize and maintain research materials, ensuring accessibility and proper documentation.  


Data & Financial Management:

  • Assist with financial tracking, including budget reconciliation, expense reporting.
  • Coordinate research purchases, invoices, and reimbursements as needed.  


Stakeholder Engagement & Communication:

  • Act as a point of contact for internal and external stakeholders, including research participants, community partners, and funding agencies.  
  • Assist in drafting and distributing research-related communications and newsletters.
  • Support the organization of research events, workshops, and community engagement activities.  


Qualifications, Experience & Skills:

  • Post-secondary education in a relevant field (e.g., health sciences, business administration, research administration) preferred.  
  • Experience in administrative or research support roles, preferably in an academic or healthcare setting. 
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills, with attention to detail.  
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.  
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and research management software. Experience using ARISE, PeopleSoft Applications, RedCap, UAPPOL is an asset.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic research environment.  
  • Familiarity with research ethics and funding applications is an asset.  


Working Conditions: 

  • This is a temporary and part-time role, working fourteen (14) hours weekly (throughout the week, based on operational needs), with an expected end date of March 31, 2027. 
  • Per the unique nature of this role, you will work mainly remotely but, at times, from office space in the University of Alberta (Edmonton).
